Five Stortford swimmers competed at British Summer Championships 26th – 31st July at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge International Pool.
Daniel Chada (15) began the club’s first race of the week in the 50m Backstroke finished 11th in a time of 28.43 first reserve for a place in the final.
Daniel was again in the pool on day 2 competing in 100m Backstroke finished equal 12th in a time of 1.01.59. Elinah Phillip (16) was next up in the pool in 50m Butterfly finished 6th fastest qualifier for the final in a time of 28.77. In the final Elinah finished 4th just outside of the medals with a time of 28.35
Elinah, back in the pool on day 3 competing in 50m Freestyle finished 2nd fastest qualifier for the final in a time of 26.86. In the final Elinah finished 3rd in a time 26.65.
Day 4 Elinah was back in the pool competing in her last individual event of the week 100m Freestyle finished 17th in a time of 59.84.
Day 5 saw the final day of competition for Stortford Swimmers which saw Mia Carter (14) competing in 50m Backstroke finished 7th fastest qualifier for the final in a time of 31.04. Next in the pool was our girls 14/16 years 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay team of Elinah, Mia, Josie Pretious-White and Sarah Carroll finished 21st time of 4.05.39, relay splits for the girls are Elinah 58.93, Sarah 1.03.94, Josie 1.01.90, Mia 1.00.62. which was 2 seconds faster than the time which they set at Regional Summer Championships in May. In the final of 50m Backstroke Mia finished 9th with a time of 31.42
