Basildon & Phoenix Easter Long Course Meet

Having just returned from a 50m swim camp in Torremolinos, the Basildon & Phoenix Easter Long Course Meet on theApril 20/21^stwas the last chance for many of our swimmers to grab times for the Swim England East Region Long Course Championships, and they didn’t disappoint.  They all performed at their very best, competing against some of the best across multiple regions, with many of them securing regional times and plenty of medals.  Well done everyone!

Swimmers were: 12yrs Jago Derrington; 13yrs Freya Reilly, Issy Good, Lilian Opiyo; 14yrs/Over Adam Hazlewood, Alex Catton, Bryn Couser, Callum Davis, Callum Harold, Dan Chada, Eleanor Mason, Izzy Renwick, James Gisborne, Jess Penkul, Mehdi El Mansar, Millie Fields, Niamh James, Nick Botha, Sarah Carroll, Tom Ogden.

Out of 103 individual swims, they secured 64 top 8 places and 27 age group medals.  There were Boys and Girls Open finals for all four 50m events – 8 of our swimmers secured places and in 11 swims won 5 medals.  There were many exciting moments, but the domination of the 14/Over Boys 200m Breaststroke event (Nick 1^st, Mehdi 2^nd, Callum H 3^rd, James 5^th, Adam 8^th) and the Open 50m Backstroke Final (Dan 1^st, Tom 2^nd, Alex 3^rd) was good to see!
