Bishop’s Stortford Swimming Club’s Learn to Swim programme provides high quality swimming lessons based on the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework (Stages 1 – 7) and Swim England Aquatic Skills Framework (Stages 8 – 10 swimming). Our Learn to Swim lessons have some of the lowest teacher pupil ratios in the area with a maximum of 8 swimmers per lesson.
Find out more by following the links below:
Lessons are held in two locations, Bishops Stortford College Pool on Sundays between 3:00pm and 6:00pm and Leventhorpe School Pool on Mondays and Wednesday between 4:15pm and 5:15pm.
For further information or to book a lesson please send a message to our Learn to Swim Administrator.
Each course of lessons normally ranges between 10 and 14 weeks in length, dependent upon the Hertfordshire school term.
All of Bishop’s Stortford Swimming Club’s Learn to Swim teachers are Swim England SEQ Qualified Level 2 Teaching Swimming and are DBS checked and attended Safeguarding & Protecting Children course . With non-swimmers we also utilise the use of Swim England SEQ qualified Level 1 Swimming Assistants and our older swimmers from the squads who assist the teachers in and out of the pool.
We encourage the children to progress through the Learn to Swim Framework and to work their way through all stages with the ultimate aim of progressing through to our swim squads if they so choose.
Bishop’s Stortford Swimming Club started its own learn to swim programme back in the late 1980s. This was to develop our own swimmers from an early age to enable the club to build a broad young squad base with children from the Learn to Swim scheme.
