On Saturday 8th June nine BSSC swimmers represented Bishop’s Stortford College at the IAPS (Independent Association of Prep Schools) National Swimming finals. The College enjoyed one of its most successful performances in recent years, in which our swimmers played a significant part.
Ollie Gisborne, and Alex Filionescu competed in the U11 Freestyle relay, coming 15th.
Amongst the girls, Eliza Andrews and Olivia Sweeney (U11), Alice Longman (U12), Meisha Trend-Evans, Peggy Shen and Millie Andrews (U13) all competed in Relays. The U11s came 7th in the Freestyle Relay, the U12s managed a fabulous 6th in Medley and 11th in Freestyle and the U13s achieved 12th in Medley and an impressive 6th in Freestyle.
Individual competitors included Peggy Shen U13 50m Freestyle, Meisha Trend-Evans U13 50m Backstroke, Alice Longman U12 50m Breaststroke and Alistair Stewart U13 50m Freestyle. Peggy came 19th and Alistair 15th in their events, with Meisha performing exceptionally well to make her final in 37.03 and then coming 10th. Finally, Alice scored a 1.5 sec PB to win Silver in 50 Breaststroke in a time of 37.65.
