Sunday 22 July saw two BSSC swimmers, Eleanor Mason, and Lizzie Bellinger travel up to Peterborough for the Triathlon England National Aquathlon Championships. The aquathlon consisted of a 750m open water swim followed by a 5k run. Neither a cool early morning or the prospect of a massed start with male professional triathletes daunted the pair who performed superbly in both swim and run legs.
The pair’s excellent commitment brought home the swimming club’s first national medals of the Summer. Eleanor won bronze in the female under 20 category and Lizzie won silver in the 40-44 age group. As a supportive spectator shouted as they ran by: “Go Stortford!”
