Bishop’s Stortford Swim Club is a not-for-profit club, run by volunteers, providing swim teaching, and coaching for a wide range of ages and abilities. The Club starts from age three with our Learn to Swim school and then swimmers progress into the main club where they can swim for fun, fitness or with the aim to compete. BSSC take hundreds of swimmers each year to competitions both Nationally and Internationally with a great deal of success. We have members who are in their 70’s that still compete at international level!
Bishops Stortford Swimming Club is one of the oldest swimming clubs in the UK, founded in 1884 and currently has over 300 members across its squads. These members come from Bishop’s Stortford and its surrounding villages and towns.
Sponsorship of the club is the cornerstone of the funding the club needs to remain viable. The volunteers at the club work hard to bring in extra funding by holding events, fundraising activities, sponsorship and through our Learn to Swim school. These extra funds go towards subsidising all the swimmers at the club to make it accessible and more affordable to a much broader audience. Swimming is such a great activity to help with both physical and mental wellbeing and the club has created a great community spirit.
Sponsorship is a great way to support your local community and at the same time advertise your business. There are different packages available all of which get your company’s brand in front of over 250,000 people every year. All sponsors get their brand names on the swimmer’s kit and will be publicised across our media platforms. Not only does this provide direct marketing with the swimmers at the club, but it gives marketing exposure to all our followers and at all the galas that our swimmers attend. We are fortunate to have a great coaching team and this year the club has taken swimmers as far as international level. A local swim gala will bring exposure to around 1000 people, as the galas get bigger, so do the crowds, it can be in the tens of thousands when you get to National and International level which we have had multiple swimmers at.
During the 2023/24 season the club has had swimmers invited to compete and represent BSSC at every county, regional and national swimming championships run by Aquatics GB (formally known as British Swimming), Swim England, Swim England East Region, and Swim England Hertfordshire. During 2022/23 we also have four swimmers on the Swim England Talent pathways that aim to take them to the Olympics.
We have an active Master’s swim squad, containing swimmers who back in the 1980s and 1990s won Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth medals and many who still compete at an international standard, representing Team GB and BSSC at European and World events this year.
Sponsoring the club and having your brand name on the shirts and banners would put your company in front of at least 250,000 people over a 12-month period and the funds the club receives from the sponsorship helps keep the costs down for the swimmers and allows the club to do more for them.
There are also opportunities throughout the year to sponsor specific events such as the in-house Club
Championships or even donations for raffles etc.
