Bishop’s Stortford Swimming Club held another successful End of Season Long Course Open Meet on Saturday 30thJune at Inspire, Luton. Over 50 club members participated whose ages ranged from 9 years to 16 years of age. Also, in attendance were swimmers form Berkhamstead, Broomfield Park, Chesham, City of Cambridge, Dunmow Atlantis, Dunstable, First Strokes, Harpenden, Hitchin, Leighton Buzzard, Linslade Crusaders, Modernian, Rushmoor Royals, Skegness, Team Luton, Thame, Watford plus 10 swimmers from Celtic Marseille Natation(France).
Stortford swimmers won 27 gold, 13 silver, 12 bronze and 60 fourth – sixth place medals covering seven age groups.
The club’s most successful swimmers were Thomas Ogden (14 years) 6 golds, 9 years age group Leo Suo Saunders 4 golds, Catherine Clune 3 golds, 1 silver, 1 bronze. Millie Fields (14 years) 3 golds, Elinah Phillip (15/over) 2 gold, 11 years age group Alice Longman & Fergal Barry both won 2 golds each Jago Derrington 1 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze, Mia Carter (15/over) 1 gold, 3 silver, Kaia Phillips (12 years) 1 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze, 9-year age group Jeremiasz Kuczma & Tain Phillips gold medal each
Silver medals 13 years Laura Hull (2), 14 years Eleanor Mason (1), 12 years Lauren Gore (1), 11 years Grace Mason (1).
Bronze medals 10 years Imogen Tang (1), 11 years Kirsty Neill (1), 13 years Isabella Good (1), 14 years Adam Hazlewood (1).
There were too many Pb’s from all the swimmers to list but well done to you all, for some of Stortford young swimmers this was the first time they would have competed in a 50m pool.
This was one of the last competitions before five Stortford swimmers will be heading off to Sheffield to compete in British Summer Championships last week of July or Swim England Summer Championships Elinah Phillips, Mia Carter, Thomas Ogden, Millie Fields & Kaia Phillips.
