Each week during the 2020 national lockdown, the Club set fun #BSSCStayAtHome activities for all members to participate in. Members were encouraged to share their photos and videos through our social media platforms. The latest activity, the Decathlon Challenge, was set during the second national lockdown early 2021.
Daily home based workouts
Although many of our members are heading back to school, we won’t be back in the pool for at least another month. Keep your fitness going through the daily workouts being published by Coach Mat on our Members Only Facebook page. Post any queries you have in the comments or email our coaches directly.
Decathlon Challenge
Our Coaches have set a new challenge starting Monday 15th Feb that continues for 3 weeks until Sunday 7th March. The coaches would like you to do 2 exercises every day – 1 in the morning and one in the evening. There are 10 options and at this website you will find a wheel of exercise fortune that you can spin to find out which exercise you should do (it is a random choice). Exercise instructions have been emailed and are on our members Facebook page
It is important that you do not start too strong and too fast as you are getting back into fitness. Please be aware of your limits, but you should see improvements. At the end of the 3 weeks, our coaches would like you to share with them your best results on each exercise (either a time or a number) and they will create some leader boards.
Share your efforts with us on our Members Facebook page.
Challenge 5 – Get Wet
As the weather is looking so good this week, we’re launching a new club Challenge – the Get Wet Challenge. We’ll be sharing the launch video made by Elizabeth Clune (Minimes) and friends via Facebook, Twitter and YouTube (our BSSC Channel) during the week. Take a look, get inventive and share your videos on our Facebook page or directly to Katrina Gore via WhatsApp, and Katrina will stitch them together.
Challenge 4 – The BSSC Goggle Relay
The BSSC Masters squad have laid down the challenge to all squads to take part in The BSSC Goggle Relay, so break out those costumes, club tops, hats and goggles and get swimming. Which squad will be most organised and complete the full IM?
Challenge 3 – Running and Cycling
Challenge 3 aimed to keep us active but also reconnect within our squads, and more than 50 members and their families joined together.
Here’s a montage of the videos you shared.
Coach Barry and Martin Tang (Shadow Boxing extraordinaire and parent of one of our Minimes), devised the challenge. It’s simple … make running or cycling part of your exercise routine (it’s already on Barry’s squad exercises for this week) and whilst you are doing it, (safely!) video yourself nominating someone else in your squad to do the same.
